Happiness>Negativity

In a nutshell, I’m not sure I understand negative people and their way of going about life.

-You know, those Debby Downers, Negative Nancy, the Pessimistic Patty that always seems to walk around with a scowl on their face like the world is depriving them of their oxygen supply and all they can do is be bitter, unappreciative, or negative….

I realize there are times in everyone’s lives that negativity appears, it even happens to me. This is just for those who choose to be negative ALL the time. Why would you not want others to be happy in their lives, to see them succeed? You see- all it takes is one negative comment to kill a dream. It’s as they say, “when you judge another, you don’t define them; you define yourself.” Life is too darn short to be putting others as well as yourself down.

As I am growing older I find myself blessed with the fact that I was above the influence of bullying and negative insight from others growing up. Sure, words got to me, until I realized that I was bigger than that. The teens these days do not have it as easy, they cannot seem to get away from the negativity of those hurtful daggers around them. It makes me want to stand up, to become the life jacket and save them all from the drowning negativity.

Here are ten meaningful and hopefully helpful points to those entrapped in negativity. These are taken from two passionate writers, Marc and Angel, who also see the passion in life and share inspirational advice through their blog. I’ve simply given you a slight overview of these points, their blog goes into much further detail. (Go give it a look once you’re finished here, I promise you won’t be disappointed!)

For now, back to those ten points:
1. Don’t take other people’s negativity personally. You will find that most negative people behave negatively not just to you, but to everyone they interact with.
2. Spend more time with positive people. Who you spend your time with has a great impact on the person you eventually become. If you are around negative people all the time, you will become negative.
3. Be the positivity you want to see in the world. Lead by example. You can’t always save the world (yes, I try time and time again), but you can make the world a better place by practicing what you preach.
4. Change the way you think. The problem isn’t the events that are negative, it’s the way you react to those events. YOU choose your attitude.
5. Focus on solutions. Negative people have an endless supply of “pity party invitations”. Simply put, DON’T RSVP.
6. Love whoever is around to be loved. Practice acts of kindness; it’s a lot harder to be negative when you’re in the presence of love and kindness.
7. Provide support when it makes sense. Some people complain as a way of crying for help. They may not be conscious of it though, so their comments come across as negative complaints rather than requests.
8. Realize that life is a series of ups and downs. Acknowledge the negativity, accept it, and let it pass through your consciousness without ruining your day. Life is full of highs and lows, but you don’t have to go up and down with them.
9. Concentrate on today. Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Don’t let these negative points from the past rob your present happiness.
10. Let go and move on when you must. If all else fails, remove yourself from the wrong situations and relationships.

 

Once you start letting go of negative people and thoughts, positive appear. Remember that!
